Squadron Announcements - Week of April 18th, 2019

  1. LEVEL 1 AIRPORT TOUR - APR 25, 2019

    1. This coming Thursday, April 25th, 2019, ALL LEVEL 1’S will be having an off-site training day at Vancouver International Airport!

    2. We will be meeting at the OBSERVATION DECK at DOMESTIC DEPARTURES (4th Floor, Domestic Departures, above the food court) at 1900h.

    3. All Level 1 cadets are to arrive in Summer Dress at 1900h. Cadets will be dismissed at 2100h.

  2. 135 ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT - APR 27, 2019

    1. 135 will be hosting and participating in an ultimate tournament taking place on place on Saturday April 27th, 2019 from 0800 - 1700 at UBC. The specific detail and address of the field will be provided closer to the day of the tournament.

  3. FTX FORTITUDE - MAY 10-12, 2019

    1. The squadron is planning for FTX FORTITUDE from May 10 - 12, 2019. This is the last FTX of the training year, and will be different from other FTX's! The weekend will consist of various new and exciting team-building activities, as well as a scavenger hunt!

    2. Cadets are to meet at 102 RCSCC Fraser, 535 Derwent Way, Delta BC, on ANNACIS ISLAND at 1700h on May 10th, 2019, and will be dismissed from the same location at 1300h on May 12th, 2019. A map can be found here.

    3. Meals and transportation for cadets during the weekend will be provided by the squadron.

  4. SQUADRON HIKE - MAY 18, 2019 (Moved from April 28)

    1. The squadron is inviting all cadets to hike the Trachan Trail on Cypress mountain on Saturday May 18th, 2019. Cadets may sign up here.

    2. Cadets will meet at 0900 and the hike should end by 1200. Cadets will need to arrange their own transportation to and from Cypress mountain. Lunch will NOT be provided.

    3. More information will be posted closer to the date. Please note that timings may change closer to the date.

  5. 2019 AWARDS GALA - MAY 23, 2019

    1. The Squadron’s Annual Awards Gala will take place on May 23, 2019. This is a fun filled evening with opportunities to mingle with others, answer officer and cadet trivia, and awards presentations. Light refreshments will be provided.

    2. Families and friends are encouraged to attend.

  6. ANNUAL CEREMONIAL REVIEW - MAY 26, 2019

    1. 135’s 2019 Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) will be taking place on May 26, 2019. This is the final parade of the training year where we will celebrate the squadron and outstanding cadets. There will be many VIPS, including Senior Officers and Members of Parliament, attending the parade. Parents and friends are encouraged to come as well!

    2. ACR is mandatory for ALL CADETS. All cadets should plan to be free for the entire day from 0800 until 1700 on May 26th, 2019. Cadets MUST email any absences to 135rcacs@gmail.com as soon as possible.

    3. There will also be ACR practice the day before on May 25, 2019. More details and timings will be announced shortly, but all cadets should also plan to be free for the entire day.

  7. JOINT SQUADRON HIKE - JUN 01, 2019 (JOINT WITH 808 AND 111 SQN)

    1. The squadron has been invited to participate in a hike up the Chief in Squamish with 808 and 111 Squadron on Saturday June 1st, 2019. Cadets may sign up here.

    2. Cadets will meet at 0815 at Seaforth Armoury and should return at approximately 1700. Transportation to the Chief will be provided to and from Seaforth Armoury.

    3. We will be having lunch at one of the Chief’s peaks and are planning to provide lunch for all cadets. More updates regarding lunch will be posted closer to the date of the hike.

    1. The squadron will be starting the Duke of Edinburgh’s awards program! This is a great opportunity for our cadets to challenge and develop themselves.

  1. CO’s PARADE - APRIL 11TH, 2019

    1. April 11th, 2019 will be a CO’s parade. We will be announcing summer camp results, as well as recognizing cadets who have achieved their fitness and Standard First Aid levels.

    2. Dress for ALL CADETS will be C1’s (Wedge, dress shirt and tie, tunic, pants, belt, wool socks and boots).

    3. All parents, family, and friends are welcome to attend.

  2. GLIDING, PITT MEADOWS, PM - APR 14, 2019

    1. 135 has been assigned a gliding date on the AFTERNOON of Apr 14, 2019.

    2. All cadets are encouraged to attend and may sign-up here.

    3. Cadets are to arrive at Pitt Meadows at 1245PM. There are lots of instructions to read, as gliding is weather dependent. PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS found in the sign-up sheet and email 135rcacs@gmail.com if there are any questions.

  1. SQUADRON SKATING - MAR 28, 2019

    1. Due to spring break, on March 28th, 2019, the squadron will be having a skating night at Trout Lake Community Centre. Cadets are to meet at 1900h and will be dismissed by 2100. Please dress appropriately for skating. Skates will be rented for cadets, or cadets may bring their own if they wish. Directions to Trout Lake Community Centre can be found here.

  2. FTX OMEGA - MAR 29-31, 2019

    1. The squadron is planning our spring FTX from March 29-31, 2019 in Chilliwack. This is a mandatory FTX and all cadets are required to attend. Any known absences must be reported by email to 135rcacs@gmail.com AT LEAST 2 WEEKS prior to the weekend.

      1. All cadets attending MUST bring their COMPLETED PERMISSION SLIP and hand it to an officer at Skating on March 28th, 2019 or bring it with them BEFORE leaving for the exercise on Friday March 29th, 2019.

    1. The squadron will be having Tag Days from Apr 06-07, 2019. This is a key part of our squadron fundraising!

Squadron Announcements - Week of March 7th, 2019

  1. STANDARD FIRST AID TRAINING - MAR 16 AND 17, 2019

    1. 888 Avenger RCACS is holding Standard First Aid Training on the weekend of March 16 and 17th, 2018, and they have graciously allowed 135 cadets to join any UNFILLED spaces they have leftover.

    2. Cadets who are interested should speak to FSgt Chan AND email 135rcacs@gmail.com to express their interest.

    3. Interested cadets will be placed on a wait-list on a first-come-first-serve basis to fill any vacant leftover spots that 888 has not filled. Cadets chosen will be notified and given further details as soon as they have been chosen.

    4. Tentative times are 9am to 5pm on BOTH days. Cadets MUST attend BOTH days to acquire their Standard First Aid certification. If you CANNOT make both days, please do not sign-up.

    1. Applications for the following medals have opened:

      1. Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence

      2. Lord Strathcona Medal

    2. Only one of each medal is allotted and they will be awarded at this year’s Annual Ceremonial Review on May 26th, 2019.

    3. All applications MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE OFFICE BY 2130h ON MARCH 21ST, 2019.

    4. Cadets may apply for both medals if they wish, provided they meet all requirements outlined in the respective application forms.

  3. FTX OMEGA - MAR 29-31, 2019

    1. The squadron is planning our spring FTX from March 29-31, 2019 in Chilliwack. This is a mandatory FTX and all cadets are required to attend. Any known absences must be reported by email to 135rcacs@gmail.com AT LEAST 2 WEEKS prior to the weekend.

  4. SPRING TAG DAYS - APR 05-07, 2019

    1. The squadron will be having Tag Days from Apr 05-07, 2019. This is a key part of our squadron fundraising!

    2. Cadets are expected to do a minimum of 2 shifts. Sign-up’s can be found here.

      1. Please note that you will be able to edit your responses after submitting if you need to change your shifts.

  5. 655 DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT - APR 07, 2019

    1. 135 will be participating in a dodgeball tournament hosted by 655 Steveston RCACS! The tournament will take place on Saturday April 7th, 2019 from 0800 - 1700 at the Olympic Oval (6111 River Road, Richmond BC)

  6. GLIDING - APR 14, 2019

    1. 135 has been assigned a gliding date on Apr 14, 2019.

    2. Timings will be confirmed and a sign-up sheet will be posted shortly, but all those interested in gliding should keep the day free!

  7. 135 ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT - APR 27, 2019

    1. 135 will be hosting and participating in an ultimate tournament taking place on place on Saturday April 27th, 2019 from 0800 - 1700 at UBC. The specific detail and address of the field will be provided closer to the day of the tournament.

    1. The squadron is inviting all cadets to hike the Trachan Trail on Cypress mountain on Sunday April 28th, 2019. Cadets may sign up here.

    2. Cadets will meet at 0900 and the hike should end by 1200. Cadets will need to arrange their own transportation to and from Cypress mountain. Lunch will NOT be provided.

    1. 135 will be participating in the 2019 Lower Mainland Band Competition with a joint band with sea cadets from HMCS Discovery.

Squadron Announcements - Week of February 21st, 2019

  1. SQUADRON SNOW TUBING - FEB 23, 2019

    1. 135 Bell-Irving RCACS will be having a snow tubing activity on Mt. Seymour on February 23rd, 2019 from 0945 to 1200 hours. We will be tubing from 1000 - 1200 (2 hours).

    2. Cadets may sign up here.

    3. Cadets should meet at the Seymour Mountain Tube Park at 0945. Cadets will then receive a safety orientation and tube between 1000 – 1200. We will be meeting at the Enquist Lodge, which is beside the tube park. A map can be found here.

    4. All cadets attending should have proper winter attire (Snow jackets, Snow pants, snow boots, toque and snow gloves).

    5. Cadets are to eat breakfast before arriving. Meals will not be provided.

    6. Cadets will also need to provide their own transportation to and from the mountain. Carpooling is encouraged! Various methods of getting to Seymour mountain can also be found here.

  2. 609 STEVESTON BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT - MAR 02, 2019

    1. 135 will be participating in a basketball tournament hosted by 609 Steveston RCACS! The tournament will take place on Saturday March 2nd, 2019 from 0800 - 1700 at Earl Marriott Secondary School (15751 16 AVE, Surrey, BC V4A 1S1).

  4. SUN RUN TEAM - APRIL 14, 2019

    1. 135 will be putting together a squadron team of cadets who are interested in participating in the 2019 Vancouver Sun Run, taking place on April 14th, 2019.

    2. The Sun Run is an annual 10km run around the City of Vancouver and is once of the largest 10km runs in North America! This is a great opportunity to improve your physical fitness and to build teamwork!

    3. All cadets are encouraged to participate, no matter what your fitness level or running experience!
