Squadron Announcements - Week of June 6th, 2019

  1. 2019 AWARDS GALA - WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12, 2019

    1. The Squadron’s Annual Awards Gala will be taking place on WEDNESDAY JUNE 12 2019. This is a fun filled evening with opportunities to mingle with others, answer officer and cadet trivia, and awards presentations. A light dinner will be provided.

    2. Each cadet is allowed to bring ONE ADDITIONAL GUEST and MUST RSVP HERE.

    3. Cadets should arrive at 1800 and will be dismissed around 2130h.

    4. Dress for the event is formal civilian attire.

      1. Males - Suits, dress-shirts, dress pants and shoes with tie/bowtie.

      2. Females - Cadet appropriate dresses (No shorter than knee-length and no bare shoulders)

    5. The gala will be taking place at the UBC Medical Student & Alumni Center at 2750 Heather St, on the corner of Heather St and 12th Ave. A map can be found here. There is free street parking starting at 1800 on 12th Ave.

  2. SUMMER CAMP BRIEFING - JUNE 13th, 2019

    1. June 13th, 2019 will be conducted in civilian clothing and will be the Summer Camp Briefing. Only those going to summer training are required to attend.

      1. This training night is MANDATORY for all cadets going to summer training and it is strongly suggested that the parents/guardian of the cadet attend as well.

      2. Transportation details will be provided during this meeting. However, the Summer Camp Joining Instructions can be found HERE and it is IMPERATIVE that ALL cadets going to summer camp READ IT THOROUGHLY.

Squadron Announcements - Week of May 30th, 2019

  1. JOINT SQUADRON HIKE - JUN 01, 2019 (JOINT WITH 808 SQN)

    1. The squadron has been invited to participate in a hike up the Chief in Squamish with 808 Squadron on Saturday June 1st, 2019. Cadets may sign up HERE. Please be advised that this hike is not for beginners, and will take 6 hours roundtrip. Cadets participating should be of good physical fitness.

    2. Cadets will meet at 0800 at Seaforth Armoury and should return at approximately 1700. Transportation to the Chief will be provided to and from Seaforth Armoury.

    3. All cadets MUST bring a lunch, waterbottle, and appropriate hiking gear with them. We will be having lunch at one of the Chief’s peaks and there is no opportunity to purchase food.

  2. BAND CADETS ONLY - 47 CAPT VANCOUVER RCSCC ACR - SATURDAY JUN 01, 2019

    1. All cadets in the BAND will be playing at the ACR for 47 Capt Vancouver RCSCC on Saturday June 01, 2019.

    2. Cadets are to arrive by 9am and must be driven onto the base at HMCS Discovery in Stanley Park. Cadets and their driver must have a piece of photo ID on them in order to get onto the base.

  3. SQUADRON PLANETARIUM FIELD TRIP - SUNDAY, JUN 02, 2019

    1. The squadron has planned a field trip to the planetarium THIS SUNDAY, June 02, 2019. This is a wonderful opportunity for cadets to learn more about Aerospace and is MANDATORY for Level 1’s and RECOMMENDED for all Level 2’s. Any senior cadets interested are also welcome to attend.

    2. We will be meeting at 10am in front of the HR MacMillan Space Center. A map can be found here. Cadets can be picked up from the same location at approximately 1300h. Cadets should bring a light snack/lunch.

Squadron Announcements - Week of May 23rd, 2019

  1. ACR (ANNUAL CEREMONIAL REVIEW) PRACTICE - MAY 25, 2019, 1500 - 1800

    1. There will be ACR practice on May 25, 2019 from 1500 - 1800h in civilian clothing.

    2. ALL CADETS are expected to attend and this practice is MANDATORY for all parade positions.

  2. ACR (ANNUAL CEREMONIAL REVIEW) - MAY 26, 2019

    1. 135’s 2019 Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) will be taking place on May 26, 2019. This is the final parade of the training year where we will celebrate the squadron and outstanding cadets. There will be many VIPS, including Senior Officers and Members of Parliament, attending the parade. Parents and friends are encouraged to come as well!

    2. ACR is mandatory for ALL CADETS.

      1. Parade positions MUST arrive at the armoury no later than 0800 in CIVILIAN clothing and bring their FULL UNIFORM with them on a hanger.

      2. ALL other cadets MUST arrive no later than 0830 in CIVILIAN clothing and bring their FULL UNIFORM with them on a hanger

      3. Full Uniform includes: Wedge, tie, blue dress shirt, tunic with belt, pants belt, pants, wool socks, and boots.

    3. Cadets can be expected to be dismissed around 1700 on May 26th, 2019. Cadets MUST email any absences to 135rcacs@gmail.com as soon as possible.

  2. Pitt Meadows Gliding CANCELLED May 19, 2019

    1. Unfortunately, we have had to CANCEL the gliding taking place in Pitt Meadows on May 19th, 2019 due to low sign-ups . We will resume gliding in the Fall.

    1. The squadron will be starting the Duke of Edinburgh’s awards program! This is a great opportunity for our cadets to challenge and develop themselves.

  6. JOINT SQUADRON HIKE - JUN 01, 2019 (JOINT WITH 808 AND 111 SQN)

    1. The squadron has been invited to participate in a hike up the Chief in Squamish with 808 and 111 Squadron on Saturday June 1st, 2019. Cadets may sign up here.

    2. Cadets will meet at 0815 at Seaforth Armoury and should return at approximately 1700. Transportation to the Chief will be provided to and from Seaforth Armoury.

    3. We will be having lunch at one of the Chief’s peaks and are planning to provide lunch for all cadets. More updates regarding lunch will be posted closer to the date of the hike.

  7. DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S AWARD

    1. The squadron will be starting the Duke of Edinburgh’s awards program! This is a great opportunity for our cadets to challenge and develop themselves.

Squadron Announcements - Week of April 18th, 2019

  1. LEVEL 1 AIRPORT TOUR - APR 25, 2019

    1. This coming Thursday, April 25th, 2019, ALL LEVEL 1’S will be having an off-site training day at Vancouver International Airport!

    2. We will be meeting at the OBSERVATION DECK at DOMESTIC DEPARTURES (4th Floor, Domestic Departures, above the food court) at 1900h.

    3. All Level 1 cadets are to arrive in Summer Dress at 1900h. Cadets will be dismissed at 2100h.

  2. 135 ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT - APR 27, 2019

    1. 135 will be hosting and participating in an ultimate tournament taking place on place on Saturday April 27th, 2019 from 0800 - 1700 at UBC. The specific detail and address of the field will be provided closer to the day of the tournament.

  3. FTX FORTITUDE - MAY 10-12, 2019

    1. The squadron is planning for FTX FORTITUDE from May 10 - 12, 2019. This is the last FTX of the training year, and will be different from other FTX's! The weekend will consist of various new and exciting team-building activities, as well as a scavenger hunt!

    2. Cadets are to meet at 102 RCSCC Fraser, 535 Derwent Way, Delta BC, on ANNACIS ISLAND at 1700h on May 10th, 2019, and will be dismissed from the same location at 1300h on May 12th, 2019. A map can be found here.

    3. Meals and transportation for cadets during the weekend will be provided by the squadron.

  4. SQUADRON HIKE - MAY 18, 2019 (Moved from April 28)

    1. The squadron is inviting all cadets to hike the Trachan Trail on Cypress mountain on Saturday May 18th, 2019. Cadets may sign up here.

    2. Cadets will meet at 0900 and the hike should end by 1200. Cadets will need to arrange their own transportation to and from Cypress mountain. Lunch will NOT be provided.

    3. More information will be posted closer to the date. Please note that timings may change closer to the date.

  5. 2019 AWARDS GALA - MAY 23, 2019

    1. The Squadron’s Annual Awards Gala will take place on May 23, 2019. This is a fun filled evening with opportunities to mingle with others, answer officer and cadet trivia, and awards presentations. Light refreshments will be provided.

    2. Families and friends are encouraged to attend.

    1. 135’s 2019 Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) will be taking place on May 26, 2019. This is the final parade of the training year where we will celebrate the squadron and outstanding cadets.
