Squadron Announcements - Week of November 15th, 2018

  1. SQUADRON SWIMMING - NOV 22, 2018

    1. This Thursday, Nov 22 2018, the squadron’s training night will be a squadron swimming night! We will be swimming at Hillcrest Community Center Pool (4575 Clancy Loranger Way). Cadets are to arrive at 1830 and can be picked up at 2100.

    2. Cadets are to bring appropriate swimming attire, along with a towel and a change of clothes.

  2. NATIONAL SUMMER CAMP APPLICATIONS - DUE MONDAY NOV 26, 2018

    1. Applications for National Summer Camps have opened. National Summer Camp Courses include Aircraft Maintenance, Aircraft Operations, Glider, Power, and International Exchange.

    2. Cadets must be in Level 3 or above to apply for National Summer Camps. (Please note some camps will require you to be in Level 4 or above)

    3. The deadline for applications is Monday November 26th, 2018. Please speak to Lt(N) Wisla or email him at michael.a.wisla@gmail.com if you are interested in applying.

  3. SQUADRON TAG DAYS - NOV 30 TO DEC 02

    1. The squadron will be having Tag Days from Nov 30 to Dec 02. This is a key part of our squadron fundraising!

    2. Cadets are expected to do a minimum of 2 shifts. Sign-up’s can be found here.

    3. Please note that timings may change slightly closer to the day. Please email 135rcacs@gmail.com if there are any questions, concerns or requests for shift changes after signing up.

  4. 111 VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT - DEC 15, 2018

    1. 135 Bell-Irving has been invited to participate to a volleyball tournament hosted by 111 Pegasus RCACS.

    2. CV Deng is looking for 8-10 motivated cadets to be part of 135’s volleyball team! All those interested can sign up here.

    3. The volleyball tournament will take place on Saturday December 15th, 2018. It is tentatively schedule for 0800 - 1700h. The location has yet to be determined, but the squadron plans to arrange transport for all cadets participating.

  5. SQUADRON FUNDRAISING - CINEPLEX MOVIE TICKETS

    1. Our SSC Chair Caroline will be selling Cineplex Movie Certificates for $9.25 each (regular $13!) with a minimum order of 10 certificates. Our goal is to place an initial order for 800 certificates. The deadline for ordering is November 30th.

    2. Families will receive their Cineplex Movie Certificates in the 2nd week of December. Payment must be made by cheque payable to 135 Bell-Irving Sponsoring Committee. Please bring your cheques to Caroline on Thursday nights.

    3. This is a great opportunity to support the squadron and to get a great deal on movies! Please email 135ssc@gmail.com if there are any questions.

  6. SQUADRON HOLIDAY POTLUCK - DEC 20, 2018

    1. The squadron will be having a holiday potluck on Dec 20, 2018. Cadets and their families are welcome to attend. We will be posting more information shortly

  7. SQUADRON TRAINING WEEKEND - JAN 04-06, 2019

    1. There will be a mandatory squadron training weekend from Jan 04-06, 2019. Please ensure you are available during this weekend. More details will be posted shortly.

    2. If you will be away due to the holidays, please email 135rcacs@gmail.com as soon as possible.

  8. DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S AWARD

    1. The squadron will be starting the Duke of Edinburgh’s awards program! This is a great opportunity for our cadets to challenge and develop themselves.

    2. If you are interested in particpating, please email 135ssc@gmail.com and/or see Capt Smith or Sgt Marfatia.

  9. D-DAY EUROPEAN TRIP MEETING - NOV 26 2018

    1. There will be a mandatory D-Day trip meeting on Monday, Nov 26 2018 at 1900 hrs. The meeting will take place at Seaforth Armoury.

    2. We will need all participants and there parents and guardians to attend the meeting. We will be going over a more detailed itinerary.

    3. All participants must bring there passwords as well so we can ensure all passport dates. Other decision to be made are:

      1. Roommates

      2. Jackets and hats

      3. Optional activities

      4. Additional fundraising

  10. SQUADRON ASSESSMENT FEES

    1. ALL CADETS, returning or new, are required to pay the Squadron Assessment Fee.
