Squadron Announcements - Week of February 7th, 2019

  1. SQUADRON SNOW TUBING - FEB 23, 2019

    1. 135 Bell-Irving RCACS will be having a snow tubing activity on Mt. Seymour on February 23rd, 2019 from 0945 to 1200 hours. We will be tubing from 1000 - 1200 (2 hours).

    2. Cadets may sign up here.

    3. Cadets should meet at the Seymour Mountain Tube Park at 0945. Cadets will then receive a safety orientation and tube between 1000 – 1200. We will be meeting at the Enquist Lodge, which is beside the tube park. A map can be found here.

    4. All cadets attending should have proper winter attire (Snow jackets, Snow pants, snow boots, toque and snow gloves).

    5. Cadets are to eat breakfast before arriving. Meals will not be provided.

    6. Cadets will also need to provide their own transportation to and from the mountain. Carpooling is encouraged! Various methods of getting to Seymour mountain can also be found here.

  2. 609 STEVESTON BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT - MAR 02, 2019

    1. 135 will be participating in a basketball tournament hosted by 609 Steveston RCACS! The tournament will take place on Saturday March 2nd, 2019 from 0800 - 1700 at Steveston-London Secondary School (6600 Williams Road, Richmond BC)

  3. FTX OMEGA - MARCH 29 - 31, 2019

    1. The squadron is planning our spring FTX from March 29 - 31, 2019 in Chilliwack. This is a mandatory FTX and all cadets are required to attend. Any known absences must be reported by email to 135rcacs@gmail.com AT LEAST 2 WEEKS prior to the weekend.

    3. Further information, including a detailed packing list and permission form will be posted and distributed closer to the date.

  4. SUN RUN TEAM - APRIL 14, 2019

    1. 135 will be putting together a squadron team of cadets who are interested in participating in the 2019 Vancouver Sun Run, taking place on April 14th, 2019.

    2. The Sun Run is an annual 10km run around the City of Vancouver and is once of the largest 10km runs in North America! This is a great opportunity to improve your physical fitness and to build teamwork!

    3. All cadets are encouraged to participate, no matter what your fitness level or running experience!

  5. SQUADRON MARKSMANSHIP

    1. The Squadron Marksmanship team should take note of the following dates:

      1. The Zone Marksmanship competition will be February 23rd, 2019.

      2. The Provincial Marksmanship competition will be on April 5-7th, 2019.

  6. BAND COMPETITION - APRIL 2019

    1. 135 will be participating in the 2019 Lower Mainland Band Competition with a joint band with sea cadets from HMCS Discovery.

    2. If you were NOT in the band, but play an instrument and would like to participate in the 2019 band competition, please email Lt(N) Wisla (michael.a.wisla@gmail.com) and inform him of your interest, as well as what instrument you play.

  7. DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S AWARD

    1. The squadron will be starting the Duke of Edinburgh’s awards program! This is a great opportunity for our cadets to challenge and develop themselves.

  8. SQUADRON ASSESSMENT FEES

    1. ALL CADETS, returning or new, are required to pay the Squadron Assessment Fee. Those who have not WILL NOT be allowed to participate in any squadron extra-curricular activities.
